Embrace getting older, wiser, and better…like a fine wine!

Medical science is now finding the connections among mind, body, and spirit that ancient wisdom has always taught. Your emotions and spiritual direction greatly influence the health and vitality you experience in your physical body. And amazing changes in your body can result from changes in your thinking and feelings. Learn more about how to take advantage of your mind-body-spirit connection to heal your life now.

I know this sounds outrageous…but there’s good science behind the concept.  Two obesity treatment physicians, Dr. Mary Dan Eades and Dr. Michael Eades in the U.S. explain the facts about losing weight by eating saturated fat in their new book, The 6-Week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle.

Their work was called to my attention by one of my favorite bloggers, Tim Ferriss in a recent post on saturated fat. I’ve learned over the years that low-carb diets work better for me, but that a vegetarian diet doesn’t make me feel good. I need to have quality (lean) animal protein at every meal…only about 4 oz. but I feel the difference if I don’t eat it. I am “borderline” hypoglycemic and this seems to be a factor.

The studies indicate that two particular types of saturated fat found in butter and coconut oil (myristic acid and lauric acid) play key roles in immune health, as well. I take a lauric acid supplement daily called Lauricidin and use butter (along with olive oil) in my cooking.

The doctors have a recommended meal plan in which they include fatty cuts of meat, chicken with the skin on, bacon, eggs (which I eat daily!), coconut oil, organic lard, and heavy cream…it flies in the face of much that we hear in popular magazine diet articles.

Here are a few of the reasons your body needs saturated fat:

  • Improved cardiovascular risk factors
  • Stronger bones
  • Improved liver health
  • Healthy lungs
  • Healthy brain
  • Proper nerve signaling
  • Strong immune function

Resveratrol–the red wine supplement

June 28, 2009

Have you tried it yet? I’ve heard a lot about this supplement with Dr. Oz (from Oprah’s show and the You! books) recommending it lately and claiming that he takes it as part of his personal regime. I just ordered a free sample of the resveratrol supplement from one of the many producers of this [...]
